Honda Fit 2015/2016: Product Review

Probably the best compact car you can get

This is a review of the Honda Fit 2016 and 2015. Both models are very similar as Honda upgraded to a new major version of the car in 2015 (meaning that the next major redisign is unlikely to happen before 2 to 3 years). Before buying it, I did a fairly thorough comparison with other cars of the same category, namely the Kia Rio, Nissan Versa Note, Toyota Yaris and Toyota Prius C. My criteria were the following:

  • Gas consumption
  • Rear seats legroom (I want to be able to carry friends around on weekends)
  • Cargo volume in the trunk and with backseats down
  • Design (I like a car which looks good, who doesn't)
  • Affordability

For me the Fit was the clear winner on pretty much all aspects that matter to me.

On the plus side:

  • Roomy interior
  • 6 speed manual gearbox
  • Backup camera
  • Nice audio system with cool touchscreen interface, even on low-end models (LX)
  • Large windshield with wide viewing angle (wayyy better than the Versa Note IMHO)
  • Interior materials don't feel cheap at all (unlike most competitors in the same class)
  • With the backseats down, you get a large, completely flat cargo space wich is super convenient for your trips to Ikea (you wouldn't believe the stuff I've been able to cram in my Fit).
  • Warming seats in the front: nice option if, like me, you live in a region with cold winters (literally un-freeze your ass!)

What I don't like so much:

  • Manual gearbox isn't as smooth as I'd like
  • Interior might be a bit noisier than other models (isn't really bothering me though)
